Logan just got a new wheelset laced up today. G-Sport hubs to the new aero rims from Odyssey. He is also rolling on some new rubber. New sizes in Mike Aitken tires are coming soon! Odyssey‘s newest peg is in stock and shipping now! The Rifle Peg is internally spiral bored, like a rifle barrel. The pegs are also constructed from ultra-light 7075-T6 aluminum. As an avid peg fan, I was very excited when I got the opportunity to try 4 of these pegs on my bike.

I have been riding these pegs since April and took these pictures today. So that puts about 6 months of riding on these pegs. I have only rotated the pegs a few times when I have had my wheels on and off. You are looking at my dominant grind side front peg.

The first session I had riding these pegs was while visiting our warehouse in California. We ended up going to La Habra High, which features a bunch of ledges. I couldn’t tell any difference in grinding on the aluminum pegs vs steel pegs on the painted ledges but they did feel a bit slower on un-waxed rough ledges, but that is to be expected with most pegs.

The first thing I noticed about changing my pegs over was the weight difference. I am not the most weight conscious person out there, but after riding 4 steel pegs weighing in around 2lbs then changing to 4 aluminum Rifle pegs, I dropped over a pound (20.8oz). Where I really noticed the weight difference is riding skateparks. I run front brakes on my bike which automatically adds around 1.5lbs to the front end of your bike. Losing a few oz on the front end made the bike feel more “maneuverable” while carving bowl corners and airing quarters. The pegs also grind lightning fast on skatepark coping. All in all, if you are looking for a light weight peg for skatepark and light street use, Odyssey’s Rifle peg could be the peg of your dreams.

Lets take a closer look at the Fairdale 700c single speeds. Taj has been taking a few around to all of the local shops here in Austin and the response from the mechanics and sales guys alike have been really great. The first thing that people see and talk about on the bike is the seat. A genuine Selle Italia Turbo saddle comes stock on both the Parser and the Parser Express. Everyone is also really psyched on all of the SRAM components that come on the bike. The Parser Express features SRAM 500 high end single speed levers as well as SRAM’s 2 piece track crank with outboard bottom bracket. The Parser features Odyssey Monolevers on a flat bar with just a bit of up sweep and back sweep for a comfortable riding position. Both bikes come with puncture resistant Continental tires (you ever see the thorns in Texas?). Both bikes are also drilled with rack and fender mounts for all of your commuting needs.
